HISTORY
Jade's Hip Hop Academy is still the fastest growing studio in the GTA and the only all Urban Dance Studio in Brampton. The Owner and Artistic Director of Jade's Hip Hop Academy is Jade Jager Clark. A self taught dancer who started dancing, teaching and choreographing all at the same time at the mere age of 14.
Jade's Hip Hop Academy opened it's doors in 2006. Operating only 2 nights a week with 18 students it soon found out it needed to expand.
In September 2007 Jade's Hip Hop Academy opened it's new facility at 12 Bram Court Unit 2 in Brampton with a Grand Opening. Offering classes in Recreational Hip Hop for students ages 3 and up and Competitive Hip Hop for ages 8-20. By December 2007 student count rose to 64.
The season 2007/2008 competition season was mostly succesful, our youngest competitive team winning the studio's first Overall. however the majority of judges still gave more value to the"music video" style and jazzy style hio hop routines, not recognizing Popping, locking, breaking or krump. The year ended with a very successful year end recital called "Launch 2008". We needed two nights at the Cyril Clark Theatre to accomodate all visitors. All dancers, recreational and competitive performed together in this one and a half hour show.

With the growth of the studio, 2008 saw the creation of a pre-comptitive program, a level inbetween recreational and competitive for dancers ages 8-18.
In the 2008 competition season our competitve dancers competed in 5 different competitions.Despite the fact that most dancers were only in their first second year they came home with almost all first placed finishes and a few Overalls. Some of them even qualified at The Canadian National Dance Championships to represent Canada at the World Hip Hop Championships in Germany. Unfortunately due to lack of funding the teams were not able to go. In 2008 Jade also began her campaign to ensure Hip Hop Dance would be rightfully taught and adjudicated in the dance studio competition circuit. She began writting articles in Dance Canada Quarteley and holding Seminars through Dance Educators of Canada which she continues through till today.
By September 2008 the student count rose to 90 and the amount of classes also grew. The 2008/2009 competition season was finally a break through year for Hip Hop and Jade's Hip Hop Academy. Students were finally recognized for their achievements in technique and skill and Jade was recognized several times for her choreography. Our end of the year Performance ShowCase moved to the larger Lester B. Pearson Theatre and was a huge success. That year also saw the creation of the Jade's Hip Hop Academy Performance Company to meet the increasing requests for performances by our students. This Performance Company is linked to our SolPro Training program which gained support from the Ontario Arts Council.
By September 2009 the student count rose to 140. Jade's Hip Hop Academy dominated the 2009/2010 competition season, leaving every competition with first place finishes, Overalls, special awards and scholarships. The demand for performances increased and had students performing venues such as the Ricoh Coliseum, Hershey Centre, Yonge-Dundas Square, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, International Centre and the PowerAde Centre at Events such as 10th World Wushu Championships Opening Ceremonies. International Auto Show, Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life, Forest of Reading Celebrations and so much more! (details of all those performances can be found in our NEWS section). Our mini competitive team "Lil ShowStoppers" also received a Citizen's Arts Acclaim Award from Mayor Susan Fennel and the City of Brampton. Two end of the year Showcases had to be held at the Lester B Pearson Theatre to accomodate everyone who wanted to see our show.
At the conclusion of the season in June 2010 the announcement was made that Jade's Hip Hop Academy will be expanding into its New Larger facility at 12 Bram Crt. Units 4 & 5. Not only will this summer be consumed with summer camps and moving to our new space but Jade was also named the Director of Dance for Youth Day, Canada's largest and longest one day festival celebrating youth talent in the Arts. Youth Day took place on Sunday July 25th and featured 16 JHHA performances including 5 Flash dances all choreographed by Jade and performed by our students. Jade was responsible for all dance functions of the day including overseeing over 200 performers and 9 other dance groups in addition to her own and helping set a Guinness World Record for the TWIST which also celebrates its 50th Anniversary on Youth Day. For more details and pictures check out the NEWS 2009-2010 section.
After spending the months of June and July working with parent volunteers to build the new studio which included building a wall, laying down floors, painting, installing mirros, the sound system and many more tasks, the Grand Opening of our new facility took place be held on Saturday August 14th 2010 from 1:00-4:00pm. The fun filled day included workshops, demonstrations, performances, food and celebration. It was attended by dancers in all programs, parents, friends, family and new clients. Newspaper Articles appeared in both the Brampton Guardian and Snap Brampton. For more details check out our NEWS 2010-2011 section and for pictures check out our GALLERY.
The 2010-2011 has Jade's Hip Hop Academy celebration its 5th YEAR ANNIVERSARY. This season has also seen Jade being awarded for her efforts and achievements with the studio. She was selected to be the winner of both the Zonta Young Woman of Achievement Award and the Harry Jerome Young Entreprenuer Award. JHHA also took an International step and auditioned for America's Best Dance Crew (ABDC) where they were the first Canadian Children's crew to audition and one of the youngest crews of all time to make it to the second round out of three of the audition process. Jade's Hip Hop Academy Performance Company also gained a major break through and was asked to open Dance Weekend '11, an annual Dance Festival that features the top Dance Companies in the Province at Fleck Dance Theatre at the Harbourfront Centre. The company thrilled audiences with their first 20 minute piece entitled "Meant To Be" receiving rave reviews. For more details vist NEWS 2010-2011 and for pics visit our GALLERY. The demand for performances is still increasing and sees the JHHA Performance Company continue to travel throughout Toronto, the GTA and other parts of southern Ontario. So far JHHA is still gaining the recognition it deserves for bringing authentic hip hop to the competition stage and judges, teachers, studio directors and competition directors alike are improving their knowledge of hip hop and putting together routines and adjudicating accrodingly.
We now look forward to the rest of the competition season, this year's SHOWCASE which is taking place on Saturday June 11th and our 5th Anniversary Party and Awards Ceremony taking place on Sunday June 19th.
